I
have grown up in a family that follows Christ. From an early age I've been
taught about Jesus. I would consider myself to be a believer as far back as I
can remember but I really started to take up my faith for myself (not just
because it was what my parents did) through a teacher at age 12.
In
2008, while the Doulos was in Brisbane, I had the opportunity to have a tour of
the ship. Then, in April 2012, some people from the ship visited a local Bible study
group and I tagged along. Up to this point I had never seriously
thought that I would do mission work or have a gap year between studies. I
thought that they were great options but not something I'd do.
That
night, as I heard more about what what God was doing with GBA Ships I began to
seriously consider this as something I could do. Over the next couple of months
I investigated further, committing it to God in prayer. Eventually I applied to
join the ship and everything exploded from there onwards.
God willing, I leave in January to join the
Logos Hope.
