Where I Work

On Tuesday (12/02/2013) night at 7:30 we found out what our cabins were and, more importantly where we work! Most of us are in the very strange situation when we prepare to go because we don't know what exactly we will be doing on board.

We were all very nervous when were given our envelopes. I already found out that I am in cabin 277 earlier in the evening. It's a 4 person cabin in guy's section 2F. This is great because it means we don't have to clean our own bathroom as we don't have one.

I am the top right bunk. Getting in is fine but getting out is tricky. I am going to get a different pillow in either Bangkok or Hong Kong. This one is terrible. Apart from the pillow, this is a nice cabin. Apparently only deckies have ever slept in the bunk I am in.

Back to the envelope, we are all very nervous... The countdown begins and...

I'M IN AV!!! :D

This is not normal. Normally AV is a second year job that you can transition to. I was so surprised by this I couldn't stop grinning all evening. There just happened to be a huge shortage of AV people, especially people with experience. Another guy from my PST, a Frenchman, is also joining with me. He has worked in sound engineering for 10 years.

I am very happy with my department. We have a lot of work to do over the next couple of months. Everything has been badly maintained for a long time.
Next post: Joining the ship and my first few work days
