Subic Bay

Hello from Subic Bay!
Hang on. Subic Bay? What are we doing here? Aren't we supposed to be in Puerto Princesa?

It began late one afternoon, several weeks ago in San Fernando, Philippines. Deep down in the ship in the Engine Control room an alarm suddenly blared. The watch keeper responded quickly to shut down the generator but the damage was done. A leak allowed water to enter the lubrication system. This is unusual so specialists were called in to inspect. The damage was repaired but when generator 2 was pulled apart further issues arose. Rust was found on one of the crankshafts.

Removing the rust required specialist equipment so the decision was made to undergo the short sail to Subic Bay. Thankfully, the voyage was uneventful although we did have a full muster and lifeboat drill for the new STEPers (Short Term Exposure Program) on board.

Now we've been here for just over two weeks and generator 2 has been repaired and is currently being reassembled. We plan to sail early next week.

Our unplanned time here has allowed for many ministry opportunities, especially following up from the ship's time here last year. This picture is from one of several cultural cafe's run here in Subic Bay. These had a great response and several people gave their lives to Christ.

Unfortunately, few people have visited the ship here so most of the ministry has occurred on shore.

The ship photographer happened to come by during one of the cultural cafe events so here's a picture of me and the Logos Lounge AV control room. It's the size of a cupboard but is fairly well equipped.
